A Celebration of Women’s Capacity for Full Enlightenment

Online via Zoom

4 Week Course: Thursdays, October 15, 29, November 5, 12 @ 3:30-4:30 p.m Pacific

The poetry of the first Buddhist nuns is a poetry celebrating and demonstrating that woman can become fully awakened. This message was revolutionary in ancient India and inspiring in our modern times. With deeply touching depiction of women’s life in ancient India, we learn how these women overcame great hardship to become fully confident and independent in their own spiritual maturity.

Each hour will be spent reading and discussing poems from Gil Fronsdal’s recently completed translation. No familiarity with the Buddha’s discourse or teachings necessary. A translation each week’s poems and Gil’s study guides will be sent out a week before the class.
